The film "Open the land to the people" tells the story of a 15-year old boy leaving Matadi on a crowded train towards Kinshasa. The 'kibola-bola' train serves the oldest and only railroad that connects the port city with Kinshasa. The railway was constructed by the Belgians during the early colonial period to transport the digested raw materials and minerals. Until now it remains the only option for thousands of Congolese to travel between Matadi and the capital of Kinshasa.
Crossing the Congo River was one of the big moments of our trip. More people are exploring the alternative ferry crossing on the Congo, especially if you want to avoid the problems you encounter with the Brazzaville Kinshasa Ferry. While we stayed at the Hippocampe Hotel, Brazzaville, we opted for the Pioka ferry crossing South West of Brazzaville, not knowing what the roads had in store for us!!! This film shows the condition of some of the roads you can expect from Boko to the ferry and the road that takes you to Gombi Matadi. It took us 3 days of hard driving and was proper #AfricanOverland 4x4 - Ignorance is bliss !! Learn about our next adventure at www.langebaansunset.com
On the road from Kinshasa to matadi the capital of the province of Bas-Congo, my eye was fed on to the best memorable view of the landscape, and learrned a lot about the first step of Western colonization of the richest country in Africa ( the Congo-Kinshasa). The trip is all tourist, recreational and educational. Highlights: Must see sites Zongo falls, Inga falls, the town of Boma ( where Stanley settled for a few nights),Moanda and Banana beaches ( to see in the next documentaries).

La Cité du Fleuve began as a dream in early 2008. After geotechnical, hydrological and marketing reports by reputable experts confirmed the project's viability, engineers and architects designed the islands while shareholders solicited support from all the major stakeholders. In June 2009 the long awaited reclamation and construction work began. Today, land is being reclaimed in preparation for a showhouse, which will be built while land for the rest of Phase 1 is being reclaimed.
